Arthritis Tips

Because arthritis can be dangerous your joints, organs and skin, it is important to take steps to try and minimize any damage.
  • Try to keep your weight down. Too much weight can make your knees and hips hurt.
  • Exercise regularly - moving all of your joints will help you; walking every day is helpful. Your doctor, nurse or physical therapist can suggest safe activities for you.
  • See your doctor regularly and stay informed. Seek information that can help you.
  • Your doctor can suggest a medication to help reduce pain and stiffness. As with any medications, always take them exactly as prescribed by your health care provider.
If your pain continues, try these simple things:
  • Take a warm shower.
  • Do some gentle stretching exercises.
  • Use an ice pack on the sore area.
  • Rest the sore joint.
If your pain persists even after taking medication and trying some of these tips, you should contact your doctor and discuss alternative solutions.
